Patti Beal has been a native to the Pacific Northwest for over fourty years. She attended a local college in Spokane Washington and majored in commercial art. There she developed her skills as a painter and specialized in oil paints. One of her portraits is still available as a limited edition lithograph print. (pictured above) Design of many fields has been her interest. She has worked as a photographer with many of her photographs being sold to card and calender companies.
Sewing, fashion, and upholstery are among her other fields of interest. The development of CottonWood Canvas, started while she was working as an upholsterer and took three years of trial and error to get a unique and fashionable product. The dye process of the canvas was first started out of her house. There she would dye over 300 yards of fabric in two days, utilizing 50 gallon plastic trash cans as the dye tanks. She then would dry the canvas in 25' sections on the deck railing of her North Idaho home. Although much has changed from the first few years of CottonWood Canvas, each pattern on every pillow cover is still a unique and orginal design developed by Patti Beal.
